As the weather didn’t seem as bad as forecast, we decided to take a trip out to the Burnley Classic Vehicle Show, which is held in Townley Park. This event is organised by The Rotary Club of Burnley and as seems the case with every Rotarty Club event, this one was very well organised.
It was our first time at this event (formerly known as the Townley Classic Car Show) and was not sure what to expect. However, there was a good selection of cars ranging from a 1934 Aston Martin Le Mans entrant to Ford Fiestas. There was a distinct lack of modern cars, with the exception of The Mercedes Club Stand, who seem to think people want to actually see their daily hacks. There was a small array of autojumble and ample food and drink stalls – including a bar. For the kids, there was a small funfair, making this an attraction for all of the family. One nice touch was a welcome pack with a small plaque and an entry form for next year’s show. There was a show ring with drivers invited to take their car round to a running commentary and of course to host the judging. All in all this show offers a good family day out in a lovely location and with plenty on offer for all of the family.
